Join us on a fascinating journey through time, exploring the past and looking into the future, at our unique two-day event on 28 and 29 October at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre, Walton. For the first time ever, Elmbridge u3a has drawn together an intriguing range of talks and presentations on diverse subjects, aimed at offering our members something different. Choose from a smorgasbord of delicacies that mean you can book for just one event or for an entire day.
Untold Stories (combined session) explore the remarkable untold stories of the women behind Captain Scott’s Antarctic expedition in Widows of the Ice, as acclaimed author and historian Anne Fletcher shares how their love, loss and resilience helped to shape one of the most iconic moments in British history, followed by a discussion with the author.
Alongside this, Walton Charity will take the chance to introduce themselves, reflecting on their 800-year history of supporting the Elmbridge community and highlighting the many projects through which they continue to make a real difference today — as well as how you can get involved in building a stronger, kinder community.
Presenters: Anne Fletcher, acclaimed author and historian and Nina Malyon, Manager, Walton & Hersham Foodbank.
Booking required.
Friends or partners who are not members of u3a are also welcome.
