Live Poetry at Riverhouse

Introduced by Riverhouse Poets Tutor Katie Griffiths.

Live Poetry at Riverhouse is the first in a new series bringing the spoken word to the warm, intimate setting of the Barn stage. This first session sees Fiona Larkin, winner of the most prestigious competition in the UK – the National Poetry Competition – and Jill Abram, a former winner of the Elmbridge Poetry Competition, in conversation with fellow poet Katie Griffiths about writing prizewinning poems, and what inspires them. They will also read from their work.

There’ll also be a Poets Open Mic – so if you’d like to bring a poem to read that you yourself have written, you can register at the door on the night and we’ll slot you into the evening.

This event is free to attend, but if you enjoy yourself, a donation at the end of the evening will be warmly welcomed!

All proceeds go directly to Riverhouse Barn to enable guest poets to headline future events, and to support the continued delivery of free community events. Don’t miss this evening of inspirational words – book your place today!

Fiona Larkin’s debut collection, Rope of Sand, was published by Pindrop Press in 2023. The title poem was highly commended in the Forward Prizes. Her pamphlets are Vital Capacity (Broken Sleep Books, 2022) and A Dovetail of Breath (Rack Press 2020).
