FREE talk on the 'OCTOBER' exhibition by artist Karl Newman

Karl Newman will be giving a talk in the gallery on the various inspirations for his exhibition OCTOBER which is on from Wednesday 8 to Sunday 19 October.

Although this is a free event, places are limited and we recommend you book in advance.

Karl was born in Woking Surrey and gained a BA honors in fine art at The Chelsea School of Art in 1982.  Since graduating he has continued to develop his practice as a painter and exhibited work occasionally in group and solo shows. His current show, at the Robert Phillips gallery, is OCTOBER, a striking exhibition of new and reworked paintings, featuring his evocative Scandinavian railyard and industrial landscapes alongside atmospheric forest scenes, exploring memory, loss, place, and transformation.  With a distinctive blend of realism and abstraction, he shows us the unvarnished poetry of urban and natural environments. This collection draws on years of work, revisiting and exploring recurring themes with renewed vigour, vision and painterly depth.
