Fells and Such & Friends

An evening of heart-warming and foot-tapping covers and original songs to raise funds for the charity Kidney Care UK, the UK’s leading kidney patient support charity.

Fells and Such: Made up of Cris Fells (guitar), Katie Griffiths (guitar and vocals), Kathryn Hicks (vocals), Fiona Lambie (vocals) and Jenny Nield (vocals), Fells and Such is a group that delights in harmonies, in new interpretations of old favourites and in brand new music.

Cris, Katie and Fiona first played together in the band Stand Up Alfred and in A Woman in Goggles. After enjoying hearing Kathryn and Jenny sing at open mic nights in Epsom, they extended an invitation to them to join Fells and Such. Since then the band has performed gigs at varied venues both indoors and outdoors - including on an island and in a tunnel.

It is a huge pleasure and honour for them to be joined by the following performers:

Pete Penfold
Based in the heart of Berkshire, Pete is a versatile singer-songwriter who captivates audiences with his unique blend of original material and reimagined popular covers.

Performing solo with just his guitar and harmonica, Pete crafts a sound that is both intimate and powerful. His repertoire spans decades and genres, showcasing his ability to put a fresh spin on familiar tunes while also introducing listeners to his own compelling stories and melodies. From classic rock to contemporary pop, folk to blues, Pete's performances are a journey through musical history, filtered through his distinctive artistic lens.

Whether he's playing a heartfelt ballad or a foot-stomping rhythm, his passion for music shines through in every note.

Vivi
Vivi started off her singing with folk songs inspired by the likes of Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. With an international background, she took up Latin American folk music supporting various political causes against the atrocities happening there during the 70s and supporting organisations such as Amnesty International.  She lived in Chile for twenty years where she continued singing her favourite choice of the “greats”: Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, and Janis Ian, amongst others, for decades.  Her music journey continues, and she is delighted to be performing in support of Kidney Care UK.

Paul Hoad
Paul is a singer-songwriter and producer who creates music drawn from influences such as Nick Drake, the 70s, inter-personal psychology, folk music and Americana.  He grew up around UK folk artists who were visiting his parents’ Folk Club in Surrey, and was a founder member of UK Folk Band, Suntrap.

Paul’s mother was a sculptor and poet and his father played many instruments including clarinet, keys and accordion.  A good pedigree for a songwriter!

Nigel Bailey and Will Sharman
Nigel Bailey (bass) and Will Sharman (drums) have been associated musically for some twenty years, playing in a whole variety of bands with an eclectic mix of styles. From the solid rhythmic backbone of the original Surrey Blues Club House band to the swing phenomenon that is Freddy and the Fedoras – along the way providing bass and drums for folk rock troubadours The Monteurs and the creative, sometime rocky but whimsical enigma that is the A Woman in Goggles band – they are happy to have travelled a road that has brought the opportunity of playing at Riverhouse in support of Kidney Care UK.
