About
After a successful first Stepping Out concert for friends a year ago at the Riverhouse Barn, Andy Mais is Stepping Up and inviting some musical friends to entertain you with their love of music for another evening of classical and contemporary piano playing and songs. So, to start 2026 please join us for a relaxed informal evening of music making which may also re-ignite your interest in making music.
Classical pieces will include music by Rachmaninov, Dvorak, Piazzolla and Percy Grainger. Songs will draw on the Lighthouse Family, Coldplay, Rachel Platten, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, Dire Straits and several others. Andy Mais is a classically trained pianist who has ventured into improvisation, jazz and singing. He played in several bands at University and then while working as an engineer in the Construction industry hosted several concerts in London in his late twenties and really enjoyed bringing new performers together. His passion now is expanding his classical repertoire and performing more in public. Andy is dad of three and is delighted to be raising money for these 2 charities close to his heart.
Genevieve von Lob will be singing. Born in Norwich to an opera-singing mother, Genevieve found comfort in music after her mother’s passing at age nine, taking up piano and singing. She began teaching piano to children as her weekend job from the age of 13 and performed in youth musicals including Nancy with Norfolk Youth Music Theatre and Morgan Le Fay in Pendragon. She earned distinctions in ABRSM Advanced Piano and Grade 8 Singing. While studying psychology at the University of Kent, she was president of the music society and sang in the annual opera and chamber choir, performing in venues such as Canterbury Cathedral. Though she didn’t pursue music professionally, instead completing a doctorate in clinical psychology, music has always remained central to her life. From 2010–2014, she produced her own charity cabaret productions in central London with Von W Productions, serving as musical director. Now a clinical psychologist with a busy therapy practice in South West London, author of two parenting books published by Penguin including Five Deep Breaths: The Power of Mindful Parenting, and a mum to one daughter, Genevieve is delighted to return to the stage for this special charity event.

Susan Kempton began learning guitar at the age of seven, developing a strong foundation in classical guitar. Over the years, she has performed in several bands as a lead guitarist, primarily using acoustic guitars. Alongside performing, Susan is a dedicated songwriter who enjoys creating and performing her own original material. Her musical influences include Suzanne Vega, Janis Ian, Simon & Garfunkel. Outside of music, Susan is also an excellent sports massage therapist, bringing the same care and professionalism to her work as she does to her music.

Naomi Low-Beer starting playing the piano at the age of 5 and took lessons until the age of 15. Having had a busy career as a doctor and medical educator, it is only in the last 6 months that she has returned to the playing the piano on a regular basis, with the support of the London Contemporary School of Piano. She is delighted to be playing alongside Andy Mais at this special musical evening and fundraising event.
