Door to Anywhere

“Door to Anywhere” draws its inspiration from Doraemon, the well-known Japanese manga and animated series. In the story, the “Anywhere Door” is one of the futuristic gadgets used by Doraemon, a blue robotic cat who travels back in time to contemporary Japan. This device allows its user to open a door and instantly access any place they desire.

In this thematic craft workshop, participants will create and decorate their own symbolic “doors,” using colour, texture, and personal motifs to evoke meaningful places, moments, and emotions. Just as Doraemon’s gadget enables travel to any destination, these handmade doors serve as creative portals—inviting participants to revisit cherished memories, reflect on their own journeys, and imagine the places they would choose to return to if they could step through a door to anywhere. The workshop is a reminiscence of one of Jason's works - "Screen 2 (Revisit)" (2024), a sculpture that replicates a door of the flat where he used to live with his family in Hong Kong for decades - which will appear in the exhibition 'Somewhere, Someday: In Search of Home and Hope' in the gallery.
