Sherriff Talk - Elmbridge In The Spotlight – A series of talks about musicians, actors, artists, authors and cultural figures who have lived and worked in Elmbridge
The borough of Elmbridge is a place with a long and illustrious past, an historic landscape of royal palaces, stately homes and gardens, thriving towns and vibrant villages full of social and cultural diversity, which has attracted an extraordinary array of artistic figures. These three Talks looks at some of the famous (and infamous!) artists who lived, loved, and worked here, revealing their artistic, musical, poetic, and romantic, often scandalous, occasionally scurrilous, but always intriguing, stories.
Elmbridge In The Spotlight - (2) The Artists & Writers
From Martians crossing the Thames, the possible location of Growltiger’s Last Stand and the home of a Le Carre spy, Elmbridge has always had a place in literature. But this Talk looks at the writers and artists who made Elmbridge their home, sometimes drawing on the location to inspire them!
