This session is the second part of a 2-day Handmade Paper & Artist Books Workshop, part of the Elmbridge LitFest 2026 programme.
This session explores creative bookbinding techniques for turning handmade (or found) papers into artist books and zines. You’ll learn simple, adaptable binding methods using thread and hand processes, creating book forms designed for embroidery, textiles, and mixed media. Ideal for craft lovers interested in combining paper, stitch, and storytelling. Suitable for all levels — no prior experience required.
All materials and tools provided for the workshop. Participants who has joined the paper making workshop on Saturday 30 May will use the paper they made for this session. A selection of paper will also be provided for everyone to use as booklet pages.
Tutor: Janet McDonagh, an experienced workshop leader, is an accomplished mixed media and textile artist creating artwork in a variety of media and styles.
