Serendipity

Serendipity is the art of finding something beautiful without seeking it - that lovely moment where chance and soul collide. It’s how Mel and Alexandra met, and it’s how our work comes to life. We try not to over-plan; instead, we let each piece evolve until it feels right. What you see here is a blend of years of practice and the simple joy of creating. We just dive in, play with the materials, and leave the door open for serendipity.

Mel

My work pairs playful curiosity with a thoughtful, steady touch. I like to keep my style loose and expressive when painting with acrylics, but I always balance that energy with the fine, fluid lines of pens and pencils in my portraiture. Whether I’m sketching on paper or painting on canvas, I aim for a result that feels both deliberate and full of life. For me, the creative process is all about balancing structure with new discoveries. My fine art degree gave me my initial building blocks, but continuing my education with online classes keeps my practice fresh.

Alexandra

Nature lover and fanatical photographer I feel I see things often unseen. I work mainly in oils and watercolours, my aim is to capture the essence of nature and wonder. Keeping my background in textiles alive with free-style tapestries using found and recycled items shows sustainability can be beautiful. I am currently studying for an MA in Fine Art with Falmouth University which is challenging my creativity in new ways.Ultimately, my work is an attempt to translate sensory and emotional responses to the environment into material form—threads, pigments, and images woven together to capture fleeting moments.
