After storming their debut gig in November last year, Allen Beechey’s Bright Stars of Jazz return to Riverhouse with their unique style of playing, inspired by the good-time, hard-driving Chicago style of Eddie Condon, Wild Bill Davison and their contemporaries of the 1930s–50s. Their repertoire ranges from classic New Orleans to mainstream jazz, always delivered with energy, swing and good humour.Since their debut in 1999, the Bright Stars have been in high demand across the UK and Europe, performing at top venues including the 100 Club and the Purcell Room, and at festivals from Whitley Bay, Bude and Birmingham to Swanage, the Isle of Bute and Roccatederighi (Tuscany). Their acclaimed album Bridging the Gap was named one of Jazz Review magazine’s Top 25 Jazz Recordings of 2002.
